Tanning Weather

Today’s report is brought to you by Yasuko-chan!

Today was the first time in a while that I did Rainbow Crayons, but I was so tired from pulling an all-nighter for my seminar that I fell asleep while Sasaken-san was driving. I’m sorry! Today I worked with three members of Team Japan: Shibata-sensei, Sasaken-san, and Ai-chan.

We went to Ishinomaki High and… wait, there aren’t any kids here!? Apparently they went to a festival at Hiyoriyama. Well, maybe next time. I was really looking forward to seeing them. Hopefully I can meet them next time.

After leaving Ishinomaki High we headed to Watanoha Elementary. But before that, we went to Ministop (a convenience store), bought lunch, laid out a blue tarp, and had a picnic out in a field. It was fun.

At Watanoha Elementary the kids were…in the playroom and gymnasium. Another volunteer group was there, so we retreated for the time being and decided to play soccer outside. Soccer was loads of fun. We were transformed back into kids and got all serious about shooting and defending the goal (we might’ve gone a bit overboard). It really was fun, though! We kept pushing harder even though we were at our limits. Once we started playing, the kids started joining one after another. I think they wanted to join because they saw how much fun we were having. This is something I don’t want to forget even after I become a teacher. After we finished the kids still wanted to play. Unfortunately we had to go to our next stop…

After leaving Watanoha Elementary, all that was left was to head to Mangokuura Middle School. We mostly played baseball there. Baseball’s really hard! I managed to hit the ball, though. It feels really good when you get a hit in. 🙂

…Sorry, Takanori-kun. Cheating’s wrong, isn’t it? We’ll have a fair fight next time!

Even if you’re an elementary schooler, it’s okay to cry if you’re a boy.

After that we went inside and played some random games (cards, Pop-up Pirate, Jenga, chess, etc.). It felt good to play some games inside.

Today we did Rainbow Crayons at two locations. Only two today, but it was a really satisfying day. 🙂

I can’t wait to go again.
