Report from Shigeki

Wednesday August 24th, 2011.

My high school friend “M” who lives in Tokyo is a registered architect. His parents live in Naruse, Higashi-Matushima city. As their home was swept away by the tsunami, his parents are currently residing at the provisional housing in Hibiki Industrial park .

He’s been pondering what he can do for the people affected by the disaster.

To make life in the provisional houses a little more comfortable, he proposed to cover them with tents to shield from the harsh sunlight, and he already has put this plan into action.

He asked me to organize an event where children could draw and paint on the tents and so now I’m planning to hold this event on September 4th.

Here is a picture for the event.

The design was done by Pi-chan (Hiroko-sensei). This picture will be hung between the provisional housings. I’m looking forward to it.
