Original Cookie

March 17th, 2012

Today we held our activity at the classroom in Akebono.

– Sayabo’s Report –

Unfortunately it was raining outside so everyone played indoors.

Dividing the assembly room into a handicraft zone and a physical activity area, the kids played balloon volleyball, modeled with clay, made cookies, competed at an original rock-scissors-paper game on the stairs, laminated origami, and so on.

As part of the cookie group this boy is making his own original cookies.  He is using a heart shaped cutter to shape them.

Serious Concentration.

Here are the finished cookies.

For some reason his cookies were the only ones that got burnt. 🙂

A shot of the balloon volleyball.

They are using slippers on either side as makeshift markers for the net.

Aichan showed up today for the first time in while!

All the kids were really excited to see him again.

One of the girls was making really nice laminated origami.  She said “I want a job looking after kids in the future!  Perhaps as a nursery school teacher.”

Wouldn’t it be great if she came back to Nijiiro Crayons when she grows up.

18 kids joined us to play today in the rainy weather.  That was more than yesterday.  Our volunteers were Iwasawasan, Boochan, Narumin, Aichan, Onchan-Shisho (Shigeki) and myself.
