Growing Daily!

June 8th, 2012

– Machan’s Report –

Today we held our activity at the provisional housing in Northern Hebita Park #2.

Midday the rain had been coming down in buckets in Ishinomaki city, however, by the start of our activity the rain had stopped and sunlight was pleasantly streaming down. That alone was enough to cheer people up.

Carrying materials for our activity into the assembly room, the pitter-patter of tiny feet can be heard from within… We are greeted by an exceedingly cute and smiling Haruchan and Satchan, “We came early!”
They are really excited.

Soon after, the assembly room came alive as more kids and moms started to show up. Some of the kids had returned from school and rushed over on their bikes, others came with their mothers who had just finished midday naps (the kids of course had been up the whole time 🙂 ).

Everyone played leisurely in the assembly room. Origami, painting, mosaic art construction, building houses out of pillows, puzzles, there was lots to do.

All the kids played nice together, taking turns, sharing pens and such.
Then at the end of the day they all happily jumped through a hopscotch course drawn on the pavement outside as they headed home.

Kids I had not seen in a while were taller and had become more talkative, you could tell they were growing up. There was a lot to be happy about today.
