Minami Sakai Full of Life!!

November 23rd, 2012

– Pon-chan’s report –

Here is my activity report for the 23rd of November. Well, today we had our activity at the 4th building complex of Minami Sakai. People from the cooperative organization ‘Future’ joined in as volunteers and we had quite a crowd.

First, we made our usual cardboard box house.  We build them every week but the purpose always changes.  Today’s house was a school classroom.

Members from both Nijiiro and ‘Future’ joined in to play students and teachers.  Lesson topics were language arts, mathematics, and physical education.

Our mathematics teacher was a young girl who made sure to assign grades as everyone solved their problems.  She conducted a very spirited lesson.

Meanwhile, in the group playing with clay and beads, one of the volunteers from ‘Future’ was creating very artistic flower arrangements out of clay.

The flowers were very popular amongst the kids, and some even took them home. As they left, the children begged the people from ‘Future’ to ‘come back again’ sometime.

There were also kids playing with shields and swords made from cardboard. One of the volunteers from ‘Future’ pretended to be a monster and was defeated in a truly lifelike performance.

Today’s activity made me think about how nice it would be to play together in a large group again sometime. That ends my report.

Joining us today were Pon-chan, Honamin, Kiyo-kun, Na-chan, Iku-chan, Boo-chan, On-chan, Nakaji, Ma-chan, Nobi-chan, Inapoo, Yonemasa, Giri-san, Oda-chan, Nori-chan, Sawasawa and Kojikoji.
