Pre Christmas Party Bustle At Northern Hebita!

Pre Christmas Party Bustle At Northern Hebita!

December 20th, 2012

Leo-kun’s report

Today was exceptionally cold but 9 children and 11 volunteers gathered for our activity at Northern Hebita provisional housing #2!!

The students from Ishinomaki Senshu University, Hoka-chan from far away Kyoto, and Dai-chan who is usually pushing a rickshaw around Kamakura all showed up.  The children were extremely gratified to have so many active members gather together.

As soon as we arrived at the assembly room, 2nd year elementary school student R-kun came racing up on his bike.  He put his bike down and immediately ran over to the balance ball and began excitedly playing dodgeball with volunteers Kiyo-kun and Dai-chan.

Meanwhile, inside the assembly room they were making decorations out of origami and preparations for our Christmas party this Sunday were advancing.

Kenshin-kun and Sachan were very pleased their origami decorations they made with volunteers Hoka-chan and Honamin.  They couldn’t put them down and were running around outside the assembly room with them the whole time.

The sun set quickly and at 4:30 we stopped playing outside and all the children gathered in the assembly room.  Inside we put up Christmas decorations, made paper-mache stamps, tossed balloons, and did various other activities.  It was very apparent to me the presence of so many volunteers enabled the children to individually pick and choose their activities.

By the end of the day I was really looking forward to Sunday’s Christmas party.

People joining in today were Onchan-Shisho, Boo-chan, Ryo-chan, Ken-chan, Ma-kun, Honamin, Hoka-chan, Kiyo-kun, Shinono, Dai-chan and Leo-kun!
