The Boy’s Scratch And Some Strawberries

Hello! I’m Yuki, a member of Nijiiro Crayon’s volunteers. We had our activities in the provisional housing in Hibiki Industrial park today.

It was raining a little, just like last week, but the children didn’t care and enjoyed playing catch and badminton. I saw them excitedly playing with water balloons in this weather, and I thought “Do you want to do that in the rain!?” 🙂

A boy who was riding a bicycle fell and skinned his knee. Luckily, it was just a scratch, but the boy looked dispirited as he was bearing the pain.

I worried about him but it got me thinking that children become stronger with these things. A few scratches and wounds show that they are growing up. Seeing him trying to act normal and not cry reminded me of my childhood. I cheered him on with the words “Be strong, boy!”

At the end of the activities, a family of one of the children gave us some strawberries, and we all had them. They were delicious.  I hope the boy felt better after those strawberries.

I can’t wait to see the cheerful children again during the next activities!

Other children inside were excited to hear So-kun play the piano.

Helping with today’s activities were Bu-chan, Natsukichi, and Yuki. Thank you!
