The organizational philosophy and action guidelines

The Philosophy of Nijiiro Crayons

We contribute to the enrichment and enlightenment of our society through the care of children and our future generation.

1: Ensuring the children’s safety

Through our activities, we believe in safety first for the children and for the people around them.

2: Creating a reassuring place for the children

We will create spaces where children can feel reassured through individual attention and care.

3: Through Play

We will provide space for children to learn and have fun.

Our purpose

The Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11th, 2011 was an unpreceedent disaster since WWII, killing tens of thousands of people. Ishinomaki, Miyagi prefecture was one of the hard hit regions. Those who survived suffered from the loss of family and homes, and struggled to restore their livelihoods. Under these catastrophic circumstances, priority to children are pushed away for more immediate goals.

One of the lessons learnt from the ’95 Great Hanshin Earthquake was that affected children can suffer from PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder), caused by severe anxiety resulting from psychological trauma. It is necessary to recover from the disaster and to strengthen Ishinomaki for our next generation.

The NPO Nijiiro Crayons will connect children with medical experts and other specialists and continue to support them throughout our daily activities.
